The day didn't start well for Australia as England won the toss and elected to bat first . Cook and Stoneman opened the innings for England . England got an early blow as their top batsman Alaistar Cook was dismissed by the speed star Mitchell Starc . James Vince came to the crease and built a good solid partnership with Stoneman . Then the rain interrupted the play for few minutes until the lunch .
Both the batsmen returned after lunch and the game was in England's hands until Stoneman was dismissed by a wonderful delivery from Pat Cummins . Joe Root came to the crease and did nothing impressive as the Aussie bowlers were very good in the final session . James Vince was dismissed by a wonderful run out by Nathan Lyon. The wickets started falling easily as Joe Root was dismissed by a good delivery from Pat Cummins for just 15 runs.
The rain interrupted the play again which lead to the end of day 1 with Malan and Moeen Ali on the crease . So, the first day didn't go well for both the teams as the rain interrupted the play twice . It would be good for Australia if England gets bundled out below 350 and Australia scores at least 100 runs by tomorrow . Let's hope for the best !
