WHY IS STEVE SMITH CALLED AS MODERN DAY BRADMAN ?

There have been many critics against Steve Smith claiming that he is a home track bully especially by those people who were frustrated by Smith's Test stats in the past few years. Steve Smith joined the national team as a part time bowler and didn't have a good start. He was just considered as one of the ordinary all rounders till 2014. But it was 2014 where he showed his another side of talent. He surprised everyone including his teammates with his amazing batting skills.
He played a wonderful Test series against England in England and became the No.1 test batsman in 2015. It was there his new journey started as a classic Test batsman. He then played in Sri Lanka, Australia, India, New Zealand and Bangladesh. And still he holds the No.1 test position without letting a single player take his spot. He stands a way ahead in the ICC test rankings leaving a gap of 50+ points between him and the second ranked player. He has got the second highest ratings ever in cricket history after Don Bradman. He has got 23 centuries and 22 fifties in 60 Tests. And not to forget he was playing as a part time bowler for the first 15 matches.
He is only player ever in Test history to score 1000+ runs and average 70+ for four consecutive calendar years(2014-2017). He has scored 16 centuries in the last 2 years. Out of his 23 centuries centuries 15 have come against England and India. There are very few players who have got an average of 50+ in Tests and then there is Steve Smith who averages 54 at away alone. His overall average in tests is 63..55 and 77 at Home. Being the No.1 Test batsman for the past three years, he steps into the fourth and he will definitely the remain as the No.1 Test batsman. A fun fact : Even if Steve Smith scores another 20 consecutive ducks, his average is gonna remain more than 50.
What a changeover ! From an ordinary bowler to an extra ordinary batsman. If you still think that Steve Smith is a home track bully, it's just your frustration over his wonderful stats that makes you think that.
